Romney to visit St. Pete Wednesday

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney is making an appearance in the Bay area Wednesday.

According to the Republican Party of Pinellas County, he'll be at the Mirror Lake Lyceum at 8:45 a.m.

The visit is part of a multi-stop fundraising swing. He'll have an afternoon event in Tampa at Avila Golf and Country Club.

Residents can apply for Citizen Boards and Councils

 

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Hillsborough County Commissioners are seeking residents to serve on several County citizen advisory boards and councils.

Residents interested in seeking appointment must be registered voters in Hillsborough County.

These are voluntary positions, and members serve without compensation. Applicants may apply to more than one board, but may only serve on one board at a time.

The deadline for applying is June 14, 2012. Appointments will be scheduled for a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners in July 2012.

Firefighters thank Girl Scout Troop 433

Carrollwood, Florida -- Tampa Fire Rescue is giving a big thanks to Junior Girl Scout Troop 433 from Carrollwood Elementary School.

The girls recently hosted a Pet Safety and Wellness Fair at Petco on North Dale Mabry in Carrollwood while working toward their "Bronze Award" which is the highest recognition awarded to Junior Girl Scout Troops.

The Pet Safety Fair raised nearly $400 to purchase several animal rescue oxygen masks to be used for animals injured in fires and disasters.
