Carrollwood, Florida - It's really the experience of a lifetime for some football playing youngsters. The Carrollwood D1 midgets won the FYD championship.

That means they'll be taking on the Citrus Park Bills at Raymond James Stadium on December 10. The Game Day of Champions is sponsored by the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and begins at 10:00 a.m

Hurricanes supporters are invited to come out and join the tailgate party in the stadium parking lot for hamburgers, hotdogs and a whole lot of fun.

Controlled burns Thursday in Hillsborough

Tampa, Florida - The Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department is conducting two prescribed burnson Thursday.

The prescribed burn at Balm-Boyette Scrub Preserve, Balm-Boyette Road in Lithia is for the purpose of fuel reduction to reduce wildfire hazard.

The prescribed burn at Upper Tampa Bay Park, 8001 Double Branch Road in Tampa is for the purpose of ecological site management.

Both burns will last one day.

$19 million in grants report shows only 18 families are helped

Tamap, Florida -- The federal government has sent millions of dollars to Hillsborough County to help low income families live in decent housing under what is called the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Although the county was given the grant in 2009, a September report shows that the families that have been helped is less than you can count on your toes and fingers.

PRECO returns more than $726,000 to members

Wauchula, FL -- Residents are about to get a check from their own utility company. The Board of Directors of Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO), based in Wauchula,  has authorized the release of more than $726,300 in capital credit payments to approximately 11,500 consumer-members this month.

A benefit from electric cooperatives owned by served individuals is that they can see a return of excess revenue, called margins, in the form of capital credits. Meaning, when there is excess revenue, the co-op pays its members in cash.
