Grocery stores receive "Poor" food safety rating

St. Petersburg, Florida - Of the hundreds of grocery stores across the Tampa Bay area, seven received failing ratings in the latest round of inspections by the State Division of Food Safety.

According to Florida state guidelines, a poor rating indicates the grocery store was found to be unsatisfactory in meeting sanitation requirements on the day the inspector entered the store.

Good and fair ratings are considered passing and in compliance with sanitation requirements.

Kevin White guilty of corruption

Tampa, Florida - Holding his wife's hand, Kevin White walked into Federal Court this morning prepared to hear the jury's verdict.

The former Hillsborough County Commissioner was accused of taking bribes in exchange for giving a local wrecker company preferential treatment.

And shortly before noon, standing stoically in court, White heard the word "guilty" seven times--guilty of conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud and lying to the FBI.

Leaving the court house, White would only say he was going to now "focus on his family".

Tampa, Florida -- A former Hillsborough County commissioner accused of taking bribes has been convicted on corruption charges.

Investigators spent nearly two years looking into the actions of the Kevin White, 46. They secretly recorded hundreds of hours of conversations.

During the investigation, White chaired the Public Transportation Commission and prosecutors accuse White of taking thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for giving a wrecker company preferential treatment.

Pedestrian killed in traffic crash

Carrollwood, Florida - Investigators have identified the victim of an early morning accident.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says 21-year-old Jaquavias Henderson was crossing Fletcher Ave. just east of Orange Grove Dr. at 3:54 this morning, when he was hit and killed.

Investigators tell us that a 2008 Ford Edge driven by Sharon Boyette hit Henderson as she was driving westbound.

No charges are expected to be filed.

Traffic was shut down for several hours, but all lanes have since reopened.

Panhandlers disappear from Tampa intersections

Tampa, Fla. -- For now, it looks like people are obeying Tampa's new panhandling law.

After one week, the Tampa Police Department says it's made only two arrests, and those were people who had ignored previous warnings.

Some sexual harassment victims suffer in silence

Saint Petersburg, Florida - Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain is denying that he sexually harassed a 4th woman. She spoke out during a news conference Monday afternoon.

Sharon Bialek, of Chicago, accuses Herman Cain of trying to get sexual favors more than a decade ago in exchange for helping her find a new job. She'd just lost her job at a division of the restaurant association he was running back then.
