Arrests made after 3 women shot in Citrus Park

Citrus Park, Florida -- Two women are dead and another is in stable condition after a shooting inside their home on Manhattan Drive in Citrus Park.

Someone walked into the home just after 11 a.m. and found two women shot, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. By that point, one woman, identified as 56-year-old Fern Giddings, was already dead. The second woman, 52-year-old Nell Mason, died after being rushed to the hospital.

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Spring and Summer months- they bring sizzling sunshine and lots to celebrate, but Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office recently requested residents to keep saftey in mind, too.

 

In an official release sent Wednesday, HCSO said a key way to keep it safe is to curb celebratory gunfire and practice responsible gun use.

6 men rob convenience store

Tampa, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is looking for six men who robbed a 7-Eleven.

Deputies say the men robbed the 7-Eleven store located at 5001 Memorial Highway in Tampa on Tuesday. The six suspects entered the store shortly before 2:30 a.m. and grabbed the clerk, forcing him back behind the store counter. The clerk was then forced to open the cash register.

Hillsborough County seeks public feedback on its Draft Strategic Plan

Hillsborough County, Florida -- After three months of public input and five months of planning workshops, research and retreats, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners has created their draft Strategic Plan for the County.

Residents are encouraged to review the draft Strategic Plan and give their comments on the Plan through the Strategic Plan blog, via email or phone by May 14. The County Commission will take their final vote on the Plan at their regular Board meeting on May 15.

JFK's 1963 visit to Tampa revisited

TAMPA, Florida (AP) - A writer is gathering memorabilia, photos and firsthand accounts of President Kennedy's Nov. 18, 1963 trip to Tampa for a documentary, book and museum exhibit.

The Tampa Tribune reports that Lynn Marvin Dingfelder is doing the project to honor Kennedy and his visit to the area - not about his assassination in Dallas, four days after the Tampa visit.
