Battle of the Boxes Saturday in Carrollwood | News

Carrollwood, Florida -- CrossFit is holding an event in Carrollwood on July 14.

"CrossFit is the chosen sport among elite athletes everywhere. Reebok and ESPN have recognized the popularity and now sponsor the CrossFit games, being held this weekend in California. Tampa Bay area CrossFitters are getting in on the action as well.

On Saturday, July 14, CrossFit Jaguar (11730 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa) will host the first annual Battle of the Boxes. ('Box' is another name for a CrossFit gym.) 

Twenty-five teams of four (two men, two women) will compete head to head in three workouts to determine who is the best in the Bay. The event begins at 8:30 am and continues until 2:00 pm with 100 of Tampa Bay's fittest male and female athletes teaming up to battle it out in a competition consisting of deadlifts, handstand push-ups, sprints and other CrossFit staples.

Vendors such as Whole Foods, New Balance, Power Monkey, DNC, Rosas Farm and more will be on hand offering food and drink samples along with showcasing their wares. The DJ will set the stage with music and announcements while spectators cheer on their favorite athlete and box.
