Pedestrian hit by car goes wild on driver

Tampa, Florida -- A man who was struck by a car while crossing the street is facing charges after deputies say he attacked the driver who hit him.

The Hillsborough Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Philip Jackson was walking across Hillsborough Avenue near Longboat Boulevard when he was hit around 1 a.m.

The driver, 41-year-old Chuckkarat Ratanakarn, got out of his car to check on Jackson, but the pedestrian allegedly responded by punching him in the face.

Burned man gets 10 years for attempted murder

TAMPA, Florida (AP) - A Tampa Bay area man who severely burned himself while trying to set his estranged wife on fire has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Rocket launchers, flute gun given up in Bay area gun swap

TAMPA, Florida - Two rocket launchers and a flute fashioned into a gun were among the weapons turned into the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Gun Swap program on Saturday.

"We knew in light of the recent tragedy in Newtown that it would be popular," said Captain Chad Chronister.

A total of 2,541 weapons were exchanged for $75 and tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays home game at five locations throughout the county.

Gun Swap was an amnesty program of sorts, aimed at getting unwanted weapons of the streets.

Cops: Woman steals over $550 in Crest Whitening Strips

Tampa, FL-- An early evening trip to a local Walgreens resulted in 13 packages of free teeth whitening kits for one woman- but only because she took them without paying for them.

According to reports, Hillsborough deputies are asking for the public's assistance in locating the woman pictured above.

They say on Monday just before 6 p.m., she stole over $550 worth of Crest Whitening Strips from the Walgreens located on the 6000 block of Waters Ave.

Shoplifters steal $2,500 worth of razors, razor blades

Tampa, Florida -- These guys must be trying to shave a sasquatch! That's because these three wanted men stole over $2,500 worth of razors and razor blades from a Carrollwood Target over the weekend.

Hillsborough County deputies say the shoplifting incident occurred at the Target store in the 15200 block of North Dale Mabry Highway around 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 15.
